"The Chosun Ilbo" June 6, 2003: Disciple of Master Yi Yun, the Pure Land Dharma Gate of Nianfo, Hou desires to attain a peaceful passing and enjoy a lifespan of 73 years.

Explanation of the "Third Generation Dorje Chang Buddha" Buddha Name#

On April 3, 2008, the book "The Third Generation Dorje Chang Buddha" published by the Global Buddhist Publishing House and the World Dharma Sound Publishing House held a solemn and grand launch ceremony at the Library of Congress in the United States. The Library of Congress officially collected this book, and people only then knew that the highly respected Master Yiyun Gao and the Great Dharma King Yangyi Yixi Nobu, who had been respected by everyone, were recognized by the leaders or regents of the major Buddhist sects in the world and certified by the living Buddhas. The third generation of Dorje Chang Buddha, the Buddha name is the Third Generation Dorje Chang Buddha. Since then, people have referred to him as "Namo Third Generation Dorje Chang Buddha". This is similar to before Shakyamuni Buddha became a Buddha, his name was Prince Siddhartha, but after Shakyamuni Buddha became a Buddha, he was called "Namo Shakyamuni Buddha". Therefore, we now say "Namo Third Generation Dorje Chang Buddha". Especially on December 12, 2012, the United States Senate Resolution No. 614 officially named the Third Generation Dorje Chang Buddha as His Holiness (H.H. Third Generation Dorje Chang Buddha). Since then, the title of Namo Third Generation Dorje Chang Buddha has been officially established. Moreover, the Third Generation Dorje Chang Buddha is also the legal name recognized by the government, and the previous names of "Yiyun Gao" and the honorable titles of Master and Great Dharma King no longer exist. However, this news was published before the official announcement of the Third Generation Dorje Chang Buddha's Buddha name, at that time people did not yet know the true identity of the Buddha. Therefore, in order to respect the truth of history, we still retain the names used before the official naming of the Third Generation Dorje Chang Buddha in the news. But everyone should be clear that except for the name of H.H. Third Generation Dorje Chang Buddha, which is legal, the previous names no longer exist.

Disciple of Yiyun Gao, Pure Land Dafa Nianfo Method, Hou Yushan, wishes to achieve a peaceful passing at the age of 73#

Central Daily News, Issue No. 66272
Republic of China, June 6, 2003, Friday

(Los Angeles News) On June 1, Buddhist disciple Hou Yushan peacefully passed away with the handprint of his passing in his home in Los Angeles, United States, at the age of 73. His wife, Hou Liqingqiu, was by his side. Before his passing, Hou Yushan earnestly advised his wife to follow his teacher, Master Yiyun Gao, in this lifetime to learn and practice Buddhism.
Hou Yushan's wife, Dr. Hou Liqingqiu, a practicing Chinese medicine doctor in California, and Hou Yushan, in February of this year, took refuge in Master Yiyun Gao as their teacher through the guidance of Lama Losang Jase, the representative of Master Yiyun Gao's International Cultural Foundation in the United States. After meeting the master, Hou Yushan and his wife were surprised to find that Master Yiyun Gao was completely different from what they had imagined. They had imagined that Master Yiyun Gao was unapproachable, but after meeting him, they realized that Master Yiyun Gao was very approachable.
Zhang Tianyou, the president of Master Yiyun Gao's International Cultural Foundation in the United States, was the first to arrive at Hou's home after Hou Yushan's passing. He saw Hou Yushan lying on the bed as if he were sleeping, with no expression of pain on his face, and his hands in the secret handprint of passing, looking very peaceful.
The night before Hou Yushan's passing, he personally packed a gift and $5,000 in cash and asked his wife to give it to Master Yiyun Gao. Master Yiyun Gao declined several times, but Hou Liqingqiu insisted on making the offering. Master Yiyun Gao had no choice but to accept the offering and arrange for these items to be displayed in the temple for worship, with no personal use, and immediately took out $6,000 from his own living expenses to be sent to Hou's home as a burial subsidy, and notified the monks from two large temples to come and assist in performing meritorious deeds.
