Explanation of the "Third Generation Dorje Chang Buddha" Buddha Name#
On April 3, 2008, the book "The Third Generation Dorje Chang Buddha" published by the Global Buddhist Publishing House and the World Dharma Sound Publishing House held a solemn and grand launching ceremony at the Library of Congress in the United States. The Library of Congress officially collected this book, and it was then that people came to know that the highly respected Master Yiyun Gao and the Great Dharma King Yangyi Yixi Nuo Bu, who had always been respected by everyone, were recognized by the leaders or regents of various major Buddhist sects and certified by the living Buddhas. He is the third incarnation of the Buddha Dorje Chang, and his Buddha name is the Third Generation Dorje Chang Buddha. Since then, people have been calling him "Namo Third Generation Dorje Chang Buddha." This is similar to before Shakyamuni Buddha became a Buddha, his name was Prince Siddhartha, but after Shakyamuni Buddha became a Buddha, he was called "Namo Shakyamuni Buddha." Therefore, we now say "Namo Third Generation Dorje Chang Buddha." Especially on December 12, 2012, the United States Senate Resolution No. 614 officially named the Third Generation Dorje Chang Buddha as His Holiness (H.H. Third Generation Dorje Chang Buddha). Since then, the title of Namo Third Generation Dorje Chang Buddha has been officially established. Moreover, the Third Generation Dorje Chang Buddha is also the legally recognized name, and the previous names of "Yiyun Gao" and the honorable titles of Master and Great Dharma King no longer exist. However, this news was published before the official announcement of the Buddha name of the Third Generation Dorje Chang Buddha, at that time people did not yet know the true identity of the Buddha. Therefore, in order to respect the truth of history, we still retain the names used before the official naming of the Third Generation Dorje Chang Buddha in the news. But everyone should be clear that except for the name of H.H. Third Generation Dorje Chang Buddha, which is legal, the names used before the official naming no longer exist.

"'Great Strength King' Auctioned for 72 Million Yuan"#

Zhen Cang Art Auction Company auctioned the painting "Great Strength King" by the well-known Chinese painter Yiyun Gao from mainland China, setting a record-breaking price of 72 million New Taiwan Dollars, which has attracted great attention in the art world. However, some industry insiders subsequently claimed that this is "religious art," which is why the price is high. But disciples in Taiwan pointed out that critics' worship of foreign art deserves questioning.
After setting the highest auction price for a living Chinese painter, there were media reports that Yiyun Gao's paintings cannot be compared to Lang Shining's Chinese paintings with a Western flavor, and some individuals claimed that Chinese paintings made by Westerners can only fetch sky-high prices.
Disciples in Taiwan pointed out that such remarks are pitiful. Purely in terms of painting, Chinese painting is not inferior to Western painting. On the contrary, due to its 5,000 years of history and culture, Chinese painting is far more expressive and profound than Western painting. Therefore, the collection value of Chinese painting is higher than that of Western painting.
One disciple pointed out that it is only because Western economic development has been faster in modern times that the current prices of Chinese and Western paintings have been greatly distorted, which is extremely unreasonable. Now, it is not easy for a Chinese painter to have outstanding achievements, but he is criticized by some people who question how Chinese painting can surpass Western painting.
He asked in return, why can't Chinese painting surpass Western painting? Is it because of the Chinese people's worship of foreign culture? He also pointed out that Yiyun Gao's collection of calligraphy and painting encompasses various schools and techniques, blending his own style, and he has published the "Master Yiyun Gao's Collection of Paintings" and various other works, which have received high praise in mainland China and the United States.
Professor Gu Ruizhao from the National Defense Medical University, who has conducted in-depth research on Yiyun Gao's paintings, also pointed out that Yiyun Gao's paintings are thought-provoking and require careful consideration. Only by improving our literary and philosophical foundation can we deeply understand the connotation and essence of his paintings.
Yiyun Gao has served as the president of the Chinese Painting Research Association of the Chinese Academy of Education and Culture. Other important members of the association include Xie Zhiliu, Zhou Yingnan, Wu Zhangshu, Qian Juntang, Liang Shuming, Wan Laiming, and Zang Kejia, among other art masters.
