The office received an anonymous request from a Buddhist disciple to verify the letter regarding the fundraising activities of the Huazang Buddhist Academy under the name of the Third Dharma King Dorje Chang. In response, the office now provides a verification reply.
Regarding the fundraising activities of the Huazang Buddhist Academy that you mentioned, Venerable Longhui has reported to H.H. the Third Dharma King Dorje Chang. H.H. the Third Dharma King Dorje Chang solemnly said to her, "It is a good thing for any organization or individual to promote the Dharma and benefit sentient beings. However, I am concerned whether the teachings of your Buddhist Academy in the future will be the correct understanding and view of Buddhism. For many years, many people have been eager to learn the correct teachings of Buddhism in English. Why am I not willing to easily translate English manuscripts? It is because I am afraid of translation errors leading to incorrect teachings of Buddhism, misleading practitioners. This is also why I do not agree with the teachings of holy virtues by non-Trikaya Dharma Kings, as there is a risk of mistakes and misleading sentient beings." Venerable Longhui asked again, "The Dharma must be propagated. What should we do if we don't come forward to promote the correct teachings? If we don't, those people outside with wrong views will spread false teachings and mislead sentient beings. What should we do? We have the Dharma voice of the Buddha, which is much better than those outside. We will primarily rely on listening to the Dharma voice of the Third Dharma King Dorje Chang and study the proper teachings of Shakyamuni Buddha. We dare not give teachings. In short, we will only teach what is correct, not what is incorrect." H.H. the Third Dharma King Dorje Chang once again spoke to her, saying, "What you said makes sense. What can we do if the Dharma is not propagated? However, if you teach incorrectly and harm sentient beings, you cannot bear this responsibility, and you will fall into the three evil realms. If what you propagate is truly the correct understanding and view of Buddhism, it is the merit of propagating the Dharma and benefiting sentient beings."
Everyone should be clear that the Third Dharma King Dorje Chang supports all individuals and organizations that promote the correct understanding and view of Buddhism, but opposes all individuals and organizations with wrong views and false doctrines. Their Huazang Buddhist Academy is currently in the early stages of preparation, and we cannot determine whether it adheres to the correct understanding and view of the Tathagata. We need to see if they are heading in the absolutely correct direction. If they are completely promoting the correct Dharma and benefiting sentient beings, the Third Dharma King Dorje Chang is very supportive. If their views are incorrect and harmful to sentient beings, the Third Dharma King Dorje Chang is strongly opposed.
Of course, correct and problem-free teaching materials should be studied. This is what the Third Dharma King Dorje Chang absolutely supports. However, incorrect teachings should never be studied. In short, no matter who runs a Buddhist organization, the standard of correctness can only be the Dharma voice of the Third Dharma King Dorje Chang. Apart from this, any teachings made by individuals are seriously problematic. The decision of the Third Dharma King Dorje Chang is infinitely correct. Even Shakyamuni Buddha did not agree to the Arhats explaining the Dharma, and he did not even agree when Shariputra wanted to give teachings. The main concern was to avoid harming and misleading the masses. This is the bright and correct answer and attitude of the Third Dharma King Dorje Chang.
Furthermore, it must be emphasized again that if one's own life is difficult and there is no surplus, one should not support any Buddhist organization. It is only when one has the necessary provisions for life and no worries that one can practice diligently. Therefore, the Third Dharma King Dorje Chang said, "Those who have difficulties in their own lives and still think of all means to make donations are hypocritical. They intentionally bring pressure to the Buddha and Bodhisattvas and are not welcomed by the Third Dharma King Dorje Chang." Especially those who want you to mortgage your property or take out loans to make donations are absolutely going against the compassionate and caring conduct of the Third Dharma King Dorje Chang.
