Explanation of the "Third Dijie Qiang Buddha" Buddha Name#
On April 3, 2008, the book "The Third Dijie Qiang Buddha" published by the Global Buddhist Publishing House and the World Dharma Sound Publishing House held a solemn and grand launch ceremony at the Library of Congress in the United States. The Library of Congress officially collected this book, and it was then that people learned that the highly respected Master Yi Yun Gao, Yang E Yi Xi Nuobu Dafa Wang, was recognized by the leaders or regents of the major Buddhist sects and the great living Buddhas of the world's Buddhism. He is the third incarnation of the Buddha Dijie Qiang Buddha, and his Buddha name is the Third Dijie Qiang Buddha. Since then, people have referred to him as "Namo Third Dijie Qiang Buddha". This is similar to before Gautama Buddha became a Buddha, his name was Prince Siddhartha, but after Gautama Buddha became a Buddha, he was called "Namo Gautama Buddha". Therefore, we now say "Namo Third Dijie Qiang Buddha". Especially on December 12, 2012, the United States Senate Resolution No. 614 officially named the Third Dijie Qiang Buddha as His Holiness (H.H. Third Dijie Qiang Buddha). Since then, the title of Namo Third Dijie Qiang Buddha has been officially established. Moreover, the Third Dijie Qiang Buddha is also the legal name recognized by the government, and the previous titles of "Yi Yun Gao" and Master and Dafa Wang no longer exist. However, this news was published before the Buddha name of Namo Third Dijie Qiang Buddha was announced, and at that time people did not yet know the true identity of the Buddha. Therefore, in order to respect the truth of history, we still retain the names used before the official title of the Third Dijie Qiang Buddha in the news. But everyone should be clear that except for the name of H.H. Third Dijie Qiang Buddha, which is legal, the names used before the official title no longer exist.
Cancer patients focus on practicing Buddhism without fear of pain#
Hou wants to get to know Master Yi Yun Gao and receive empowerment to let him pass away peacefully#
Taiwan News, Republic of China, June 18, 2003, Wednesday
[Reporter Chen Wenlin, Kaohsiung] The power of religion can bring peace to people, and devout faith can make people fearless. A lung cancer patient, guided by his affinity with Buddhism, came to know the Buddhist master Yi Yun Gao and received the master's empowerment and teachings. From then on, all his pain disappeared until he passed away at the age of 73.
Buddhist disciple Hou wants to be good. Several years ago, he was diagnosed with lung cancer. He suffered greatly from the long-term chemotherapy and even felt unbearable pain. About a year and a half ago, he heard the Dharma teachings of Master Yi Yun Gao at the Yi Yun Gao International Cultural Foundation. At that time, he was deeply shocked by the profound Buddhist teachings expounded by the master. He developed infinite respect for the master and devoted himself to practicing at the foundation. He never missed the master's teachings and never missed the opportunity to volunteer at the foundation.
In February of this year, Hou and his wife met the master and both took refuge in him, receiving the master's empowerment and teachings. Hou wanted to make an offering with his savings to show his gratitude, but the master firmly refused, saying "I cannot accept offerings as a precedent."
Since then, Hou has diligently practiced Buddhism and quickly reached a deep level. The cancer pain in his body suddenly disappeared, and he no longer needed the morphine pain relief injections prescribed by the hospital.
On May 31, Hou arranged his family affairs and left a will for his family. His final wish was for his wife to continue practicing under the guidance of the Vajra Guru (Master Yi Yun Gao), because he believed that only the master's teachings were the true teachings of Buddhism. That night, Hou formed the secret hand seal transmitted by the master, reciting the mantra with all his heart. Until the early morning of June 1, Hou's breathing gradually weakened and his pulse grew faint, and he passed away peacefully.
Venerable Longhui, the Chairperson of the International Buddhist Sangha Association, said after Hou's death that she often saw the pain of cancer patients at the end of their lives, especially lung cancer patients who often suffered to the point of being unrecognizable. She said that Hou, before his death, was able to form hand seals and recite the Buddha's name without pain or fear, indicating that the Pure Land chanting method taught by the master allowed him to be personally received by the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas to the Pure Land world in peace and auspiciousness. This great Dharma of the Tathagata is the extraordinary aspect of Buddhism.
