On April 3, 2008, the book "The Third Generation Dorje Chang Buddha" published by the Global Buddhist Publishing House and the World Dharma Sound Publishing House held a solemn and grand launch ceremony at the Library of Congress in the United States. The Library of Congress officially collected this book, and it was then that people learned that the highly respected Master Yi Yun Gao, Yang E Yi Xi Nu Bu Dafa Wang, was recognized by the leaders or regents of the major Buddhist sects in the world as the third incarnation of the Buddha Dorje Chang, with the Buddha name being the Third Generation Dorje Chang Buddha. Since then, people have referred to him as "Namo Third Generation Dorje Chang Buddha". This is similar to before Shakyamuni Buddha became a Buddha, his name was Prince Siddhartha, but after Shakyamuni Buddha became a Buddha, he was called "Namo Shakyamuni Buddha", so now we call him "Namo Third Generation Dorje Chang Buddha". In particular, on December 12, 2012, the United States Senate Resolution No. 614 officially named the Third Generation Dorje Chang Buddha as His Holiness (H.H. Third Generation Dorje Chang Buddha), and since then, the position of Namo Third Generation Dorje Chang Buddha has been officially established. Moreover, the Third Generation Dorje Chang Buddha is also the legally recognized name, and the previous names of "Yi Yun Gao" and the honorable titles of Master and Dharma King no longer exist. However, this news was published before the announcement of the Namo Third Generation Dorje Chang Buddha's Buddha name, at that time people did not yet know the true identity of the Buddha, so in order to respect the truth of history, we still retain the names used before the official naming of the Third Generation Dorje Chang Buddha in the news. But everyone should be clear that, except for the name of H.H. Third Generation Dorje Chang Buddha, which is legal, the names used before the official naming no longer exist.

Buddhist disciple Hou Yu Shan passed away on June 1 at his home in Los Angeles, at the age of 73. His wife, Hou Li Qing Qiu, witnessed Shakyamuni Buddha, Amitabha Buddha, and Guan Yin Bodhisattva coming to the sky to guide her husband to the Pure Land. Before his passing, Hou Yu Shan advised his wife to follow his teacher and learn Buddhism in this life.
Hou Li Qing Qiu, a practicing Chinese medicine doctor in California, spoke to more than twenty monastic monks who were performing rituals at their home on the day of Hou Yu Shan's passing, describing Hou Yu Shan's journey in learning Buddhism and his peaceful passing:
Devoutly Listening to the Dharma, Wholeheartedly Engaging in Buddhist Practices
Hou Yu Shan had been studying Buddhism for many years. Four years ago, he was diagnosed with lung cancer and underwent long-term painful treatment. A year and a half ago, Hou Yu Shan and his wife came to the Yi Yun Gao International Cultural Foundation and heard the Dharma teachings by Master Yi Yun Gao on audio recordings. They were deeply shocked and could not believe that such a profound Buddhist teaching existed in the world. After hearing the true Dharma, Hou Yu Shan had infinite respect for Master Yi Yun Gao and was wholeheartedly devoted. Since then, he participated in the foundation's group practice, never missing a single teaching by Master Yi, and even volunteered at the foundation all day long. His colleagues at the foundation greatly admired him and advised him not to overwork himself at the foundation and to go home and rest, but he said, "No, I am doing Buddhist work, something you cannot understand. I only hope to see Master Yun Gao as soon as possible."
Meeting the Vajra Guru, Pain Disappears after Receiving the Transmission
Originally, they thought that Master Yi Yun Gao was unapproachable, but after meeting him, they realized that Master Yi Yun Gao was very approachable. They sincerely requested empowerment and transmission of the teachings, and offered their savings as offerings. However, Master Yi Yun Gao, without even looking at them, said, "I cannot set a precedent by accepting your offerings." He politely declined. But without hesitation, he gave them the empowerment and transmitted the teachings. After receiving the transmission, Hou Yu Shan diligently practiced and quickly deepened his realization. His cancer pain suddenly disappeared.
Meeting the Guru Again, Seeking the Secret Mudra for Rebirth in the Pure Land
On the day of Vesak, in May of this year, Hou Yu Shan and Hou Li Qing Qiu met Master Yi Yun Gao again. Master Yi Yun Gao asked him what he wanted to request this time. Hou Yu Shan, who was terminally ill, did not ask for anything related to his illness. He respectfully and sincerely requested from his Vajra Guru, Master Yi Yun Gao, "I don't ask for anything else, I just want to know how to be reborn steadily in the Western Pure Land. This is my only wish." Master Yi Yun Gao told him, "Since that's the case, you need to change your practice method. You need to switch to the Pure Land School's recitation of 'Namo Amitabha Buddha'. But the most crucial thing is that I will teach you a secret rebirth mudra, and you will soon be able to see the realm of Amitabha Buddha. This way, the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas will quickly guide you to the Pure Land." The Master compassionately called Hou Yu Shan to sit beside him and secretly transmitted the mudra to him. Hou Yu Shan received the transmission of the profound recitation method and was extremely excited and overjoyed.
Since receiving the transmission of the Amitabha Dharma on Vesak, Hou Li Qing Qiu, who is a doctor, has seen a golden light composed of yellow and red colors emanating from her husband's head and back at all times. The auspicious light is radiant and auspicious, and he no longer looks like a cancer patient! Since then, all the cancer pain in his body has disappeared without a trace. The pain, swelling, and even the morphine painkiller prescribed by the hospital are no longer needed. One day, he asked his daughter Lily, who works as an anesthetist in the hospital, "How does my complexion look?" His daughter replied, "Dad, your complexion is really good, you are in good spirits, you don't look like a patient at all."
Seven Days Before Passing, Traveling to the Pure Land in Meditation
On the morning of May 25, Hou Yu Shan told his wife, "Last night, while practicing, I entered the Samadhi state and went to the Western Pure Land. The Western Pure Land is truly beautiful. The red color there is indescribably beautiful, as well as the yellow color. I can't describe how beautiful the green color, purple color, and so on are." Hou Li Qing Qiu asked, "Can you give me an example to describe how beautiful it is?" After thinking for a moment, Hou Yu Shan said, "The colors in the Western Pure Land are incomparable to anything in this world. As for the scenery, do you remember when we were young and went to West Lake for a visit? The early morning at West Lake, the morning glow passing through the mist on the lake, creating a colorful scenery? The Western Pure Land is much more beautiful than that. Moreover, the Buddha told me that he will come to guide me in seven days and told me to tell the world that the best Buddhist teachings are with our Guru. He told me to tell people to learn Buddhism earnestly."
Devoted Wife Forever Following the Guru's Practice, No Turning Back
On May 31, Hou Yu Shan made all the arrangements for the affairs at home. He left a message for his daughter, saying, "In this lifetime, do not criticize your mother for anything she does, except for one thing. If your mother deviates from Buddhism and falls into a state of regression, you must criticize and remind her to follow our Guru and practice diligently. She must not turn back." Then, he said to his wife, Hou Li Qing Qiu, with great seriousness, "In this lifetime, it doesn't matter if you do things right or wrong, but there is one thing that cannot be wrong, and that is to follow our Vajra Guru and practice diligently. Only by following him can you achieve success. His Dharma is the true Dharma." After finishing his instructions, Hou Yu Shan told his wife that he would pass away tonight and instructed her, "Tonight, you must be alert. At the moment of my passing, I am afraid of falling into a state of unconsciousness and entering a demonic state. You must not sleep, but remind me to visualize the Vajra Guru above my head and visualize Amitabha Buddha above my head, and recite the mantra with single-mindedness."

On that evening, in their seaside home, Hou Li Qing Qiu had already foreseen that her husband, Hou Yu Shan, would become a Buddha after his passing. Therefore, she set four alarm clocks to ring at different times every hour. Sure enough, at 6:15 a.m. on June 1, Hou Yu Shan's pulse slowed down and his breathing became slower. Hou Li Qing Qiu shook his bed and both of them continuously recited, "Namo Vajra Guru! Namo Amitabha Buddha!" Hou Yu Shan held the secret mudra transmitted by Master Yi Yun Gao. At this moment, Hou Li Qing Qiu suddenly heard celestial music playing, and Hou Yu Shan's body emitted increasingly strong golden light. She saw Shakyamuni Buddha, Amitabha Buddha, Guan Yin Bodhisattva, and other Buddhas and Bodhisattvas appearing in the sky by the seaside. The light of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas merged with the light of Hou Yu Shan, becoming stronger and stronger. After about five minutes, the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas disappeared, and the celestial music also disappeared. It was at this moment that she remembered to quickly check Hou Yu Shan's pulse. Hou Yu Shan's pulse and heartbeat had already stopped.
Zhang Tian You, the president of the International Cultural Foundation of Master Yi Yun Gao in the United States, was the first to arrive at the home of Hou Yu Shan after his passing. He saw Hou Yu Shan lying on the bed as if he were sleeping, with no expression of pain on his face, and his hands holding the mudra for rebirth. His complexion was very peaceful.
Rong Hui, the president of the International Buddhist Sangha Association and the abbot of Huazang Temple, was deeply moved by this event and praised the greatness of Master Yi Yun Gao. She said that she often saw the suffering of cancer patients at the end of their lives, especially lung cancer, which was indescribable. They couldn't even recognize people, let alone receive the transmission and recite the Buddha's name. The Pure Land recitation method transmitted by Master Yi Yun Gao allowed a lung cancer patient to have such auspicious and auspicious golden light surrounding him in less than a month, with the pain disappearing, and being personally guided by the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas to the Western Pure Land. Such a great Buddha's true Dharma cannot be described in words!
On the night before his passing, Hou Yu Shan personally packed a gift and $5,000 in cash, and said to his wife, "The Guru never accepts offerings. During my lifetime, the Guru did not accept my offerings. I will pass away tonight, so tomorrow you should take these offerings to the Guru and ask him to accept them." On June 1, Hou Li Qing Qiu followed her husband's instructions and brought the offerings to Master Yi Yun Gao. She knelt on the ground, tears streaming down her face, and earnestly begged Master Yi Yun Gao to accept the offerings, shouting loudly, "My highest and supreme Buddha, Vajra Guru!" The Master told her, "You should not address me like that. I am not a Buddha or a Guru. I am just an ordinary practitioner, like everyone else." Hou Li Qing Qiu explained that these were offerings left by Hou Yu Shan in his will. The Master said, "It seems that there is no other way. I can't refuse to accept them." He had to accept the offerings and arranged for Hou Yu Shan's belongings to be displayed in the temple, with no personal use allowed. He also immediately took $6,000 from his own living expenses and sent it to Hou Yu Shan's home as a burial subsidy, and informed the monks from two large temples to come and assist in accumulating merits.
