Thousands of Buddhist believers from various states in the United States, Canada, Peru, Germany, China, Japan, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and other countries and regions gathered in Southern California on June 30th to participate in the Buddha's Birthday commemoration and the publication of the Complete Collection of Buddhist Scriptures. The event was jointly organized by the World Buddhist Headquarters, Shengji Temple, Huazang Temple, Charity Temple, and Shengge Lecture Hall.
The two-day event, which took place at the City Hall of Granada Hills, was a grand celebration of the Buddha's Birthday and the publication of the "Namo Third Generation Dojé Qiang Buddha's Complete Collection of Scriptures." Buddhist believers from various states in the United States, Canada, Peru, Germany, China, Japan, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and other countries and regions participated in the event.
The morning scripture ceremony on June 30th was magnificent. The first three books published in the "Namo Third Generation Dojé Qiang Buddha's Complete Collection of Scriptures," namely "The Teaching on the Journey," "The Teaching on Meeting the Needs of Disciples on the Journey," and "The True Meaning of the Heart Sutra Through the Mind," were presented on the altar in front of everyone. The believers recited the "Great Offering Before the Buddha," paid homage, made offerings, and practiced the teachings, expressing gratitude for the Buddha's teachings and his enlightenment of sentient beings.
According to Buddhist scriptures, after the Buddha, Shakyamuni, attained enlightenment, he preached for 49 years. In the more than two thousand years since the Buddha's parinirvana, Buddhist disciples have gathered multiple times to compile the Buddhist scriptures. Combined with the explanations and commentaries by later generations of masters, the Tripitaka gradually took shape, consisting of the Sutras, Vinaya, and Abhidharma. In the history of Buddhism, the Tripitaka has been translated into many different languages. However, during the translation and printing process, there were inevitably misunderstandings and errors in the interpretation of the teachings.
During the book launch event, the head of the Complete Collection of Buddhist Scriptures Editorial Committee, Zhai Mang, stated that the "Namo Third Generation Dojé Qiang Buddha's Complete Collection of Scriptures" contains the essence of the Tripitaka and the esoteric teachings, pointing out the most direct and fastest path for believers' progress. It serves as a guide for Buddhist practitioners.
In his many years of propagating and spreading Buddhism, the World Buddhist Pope, Namo Third Generation Dojé Qiang Buddha, used plain language to teach and published many Buddhist books, including "The Essence of Buddhism," "The True Meaning of the Heart Sutra Through the Mind," "The Debate between Monastics and Laypeople Sutra," "The Commentary on the Prajnaparamita Heart Sutra," "The Discussion on the Ancestor Bodhidharma," "What is Practice," "The Sutra of Understanding," "The Great Seal of Ultimate Liberation," and "Learning Buddhism." These books clarify the correct principles of Buddhism at various stages, from the basic to the profound, and correct the misinterpretations made by previous masters and translators.
