Explanation about the "Third Generation Dorje Chang Buddha" Title#

On April 3, 2008, the book "Third Generation Dorje Chang Buddha" published by Global Buddhist Publishing House and World Dharma Sound Publishing House held a solemn and grand launch ceremony at the Library of Congress in the United States. The Library of Congress officially collected this book, and from then on, people learned that the highly respected Master Yiyun Gao and the great Dharma King Yang Er Yixi Nobu were recognized by the leaders or regents of major Buddhist sects worldwide as the third incarnation of the primordial Buddha Dorje Chang, whose title is Third Generation Dorje Chang Buddha. From then on, people began to refer to him as "Namo Third Generation Dorje Chang Buddha." This is similar to how Siddhartha Prince was known before he became the Buddha; after becoming the Buddha, he was referred to as "Namo Shakyamuni Buddha." Therefore, we now say "Namo Third Generation Dorje Chang Buddha." Moreover, on December 12, 2012, the U.S. Senate Resolution No. 614 officially conferred the title His Holiness upon the Third Generation Dorje Chang Buddha (i.e., H.H. Third Generation Dorje Chang Buddha), thus solidifying the title of Namo Third Generation Dorje Chang Buddha. Furthermore, the Third Generation Dorje Chang Buddha is also the government-registered name, and the previous titles of "Yiyun Gao" and Master or Dharma King have ceased to exist. However, this news was published before the title of Namo Third Generation Dorje Chang Buddha was announced, at a time when people were still unaware of the true identity of the Buddha. Therefore, to respect the historical truth, we still retain the names used before the official title of Third Generation Dorje Chang Buddha in the news, but everyone should understand that aside from the name H.H. Third Generation Dorje Chang Buddha being legal, the names used before the official designation no longer exist.

(Wang Cheng Efen and her husband Wang Lingze achieved great accomplishments in learning true Buddhist teachings) (June 17, 2004, Taiwan Times, A23)

No Breathing Function, Yet Alive and Speaking#

Wang Cheng Efen, an eighty-one-year-old woman from Xindu County, Sichuan, China, has been practicing the Guanyin method under the guidance of the great Dharma King Yixi Nobu and is a close relative of the Dharma King. Last year, she suddenly experienced discomfort in her waist, and after being diagnosed by doctors at the Four-Seven Hospital, it was believed to be bone cancer. In March of this year, she showed signs of the four great elements dissolving. On April 13, she was sent to Chengdu General Hospital by her children, where examinations showed no symptoms of bone cancer, and all indicators were normal; both the electrocardiogram and electroencephalogram showed no illness, and her body was healthy. However, on the X-ray taken on April 18, both lungs showed no imaging, appearing completely blank, which astonished the doctors, who had never seen such a situation. Further examination confirmed that both lungs had completely stopped functioning, with no breathing capability; she could neither inhale nor exhale. Everyone was extremely puzzled; without breathing, isn’t that being dead? Yet Wang Cheng Efen was still alive without breathing and could speak normally! Someone placed a small feather in front of her nostrils and mouth, and indeed, after more than ten minutes, the feather remained completely still, indicating that she had entirely lost her breath but was still alive and speaking normally. The doctors considered this a strange phenomenon, a remarkable occurrence in the medical field and the entire human world. Wang Cheng Efen was able to speak and move for over a month under the condition of her lungs completely ceasing to function. Of course, everyone did not understand that this was a testament to the old lady's practice of Buddhism.

The Great Dharma King Invites Guanyin Bodhisattva to Guide Her to Ascend#

After Wang Cheng Efen had been in Chengdu General Hospital for two or three days, she began to exhibit signs of a great master departing. She informed everyone that Guanyin Bodhisattva had already notified her that she would be taken to the Western Pure Land. She made arrangements for her funeral, removed the Buddha statue hanging from her chest and the jewelry on her hands to distribute to her children, and changed into a burial garment, waiting for Guanyin Bodhisattva to arrive. She continuously joined her palms and recited "Namo Guanyin Bodhisattva," urging those assisting her to kneel and recite the holy name of Guanyin Bodhisattva, saying that the Bodhisattva had already arrived. Indeed, everyone in the ward suddenly smelled a fragrant aroma, and heavenly music filled the air, indicating the Bodhisattva's presence, but the old lady did not depart. She told everyone that Guanyin Bodhisattva informed her that her relative, the great Dharma King Yixi Nobu, who was far away in the United States, was obstructing her and asked the Bodhisattva not to take her away. A few days later, Guanyin Bodhisattva came again to take her, and the old lady did not disturb those around her, continuously reciting and joining her palms. Those nearby heard her say, "The Western Pure Land is so beautiful! There are so many flowers!" This time, it was still because the Dharma King requested Guanyin Bodhisattva not to take the old lady away. During an interview, although the old lady was reluctant to speak much, she felt it was her responsibility to personally record: "I saw Guanyin Bodhisattva wearing blue robes; the Western Pure Land is so beautiful! There are pavilions and many flowers!"

The Buddha Statue Emits Light, Manifesting the True Dharma#

On May 22, 2004, at 11 PM Los Angeles time (2 PM on May 23 in China), the chairman of the International Buddhist Monastic Association, the eminent monk Long Hui, was called before her great Dharma King master, who informed her that the Dharma King's close relative, Wang Cheng Efen, would pass away in China today, on the 23rd, in Sichuan Province, and would be guided to ascend to the Western Pure Land by Guanyin Bodhisattva. The Dharma King instructed disciple Long Hui to publicly announce Wang Cheng Efen's passing to the seven groups of disciples at the Buddha bathing ceremony to be held the next day and to dedicate the merits of the practice to the old lady. The Dharma King added, "Listen carefully, she has not yet passed away. Tomorrow you will hold the Buddha bathing ceremony, which has great merit; I cannot ask Guanyin Bodhisattva to keep her any longer. After I finish my practice tonight, Guanyin Bodhisattva will come to take her away tomorrow." Indeed, the next day (May 23), at 7 AM Los Angeles time, around 10 PM China time, before Long Hui arrived at the ceremony, he received a call from Sichuan saying that Wang Cheng Efen had been taken away by Guanyin Bodhisattva twenty minutes prior.

At the ceremony that day, just after the Buddha bathing ritual was completed, everyone dedicated the merits to Wang Cheng Efen, and suddenly everyone saw the bronze statue of Shakyamuni Buddha, dressed in red robes, emit an extraordinarily dazzling golden light that lasted for over two and a half hours before slowly fading away. This was closely related to the great accomplishments achieved by the old lady through the true Dharma transmitted by the Dharma King; otherwise, how could there have been any instance in history where a Buddha bathing ceremony witnessed the Buddha statue emitting light?

Wang Cheng Efen Passes Away, Dharma Sound Crosses the Pacific#

On May 23, around 9:30 PM China time, just after Wang Cheng Efen was taken away by Guanyin Bodhisattva, the ordinary chanting sound from the prayer device that had been bought from the street suddenly transformed into the voice of the great Dharma King Yixi Nobu reciting "Namo Guanyin Bodhisattva" from across the Pacific! The Dharma King's chanting was much louder and clearer than the original sound from the prayer device! Those present were moved and shocked, and Shi Xin Zhen excitedly recorded the Dharma King's voice. On May 24, around 10 PM China time, the Dharma body of Wang Cheng Efen, radiant with red light, was respectfully brought to the simple yet solemn Buddha hall of Baoguang Temple, one of the four major monasteries in China.

Buddhas and Bodhisattvas Appear in the Sky, Buddha Light and Rainbows Descend#

On May 25, around 4 PM China time, in the temporarily constructed Buddha hall of Baoguang Temple, the Dharma King's disciples quietly recited the holy name "Namo Guanyin Bodhisattva." Not long after, everyone heard the original sound from the prayer device suddenly disappear, replaced by the great Dharma King leading many in reciting "Namo Guanyin Bodhisattva," and soon after transitioned to "Namo Amitabha Buddha," then back to "Namo Guanyin Bodhisattva." Everyone excitedly followed the Dharma King's recitations, and Shi Xin Zhen and Shi Xin En recorded the audio on site. About five minutes later, a beam of Buddha light shone, illuminating the Buddha platform and the Dharma body of Wang Cheng Efen. Immediately, Buddha light appeared in the sky. Everyone rushed outside to pay homage and cheer, regardless of whether they were disciples of the Dharma King or practitioners of Buddhism; they all witnessed the miraculous scene. The sky was filled with colorful Buddha light, expanding like described in the Amitabha Sutra, where countless transformed Buddhas and Bodhisattvas sat in boundless space; the surrounding clouds displayed vibrant colors, and golden and blue light clusters filled the ground, sky, and trees; the sun and the moon shone together, creating a majestic and auspicious sight; the sun flickered and danced, transforming into countless Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, quickly manifesting silver wheels and innumerable rays of light, or transforming into lions adorned with colorful decorations, and dragons! In the Buddha light, Guanyin Bodhisattva appeared in a long skirt, and then the image of Shakyamuni Buddha appeared, larger than the sun; people's faces and bodies were enveloped in golden light, and anyone seeking blessings had the colorful Buddha light immediately cast upon their chests, prompting continuous kneeling and praise. Those who personally witnessed the sacred Buddha light included Shi Zhi Lan, Shi Zhi Qing, Shi Xin Zhen, Shi Xin En, Shi Xin Feng, Shi Zhi Lian, Shi Dao Rong, Shi Yi Zong, Shi Zhi Guang, Shi Chao Jing, Shi Nian Ci, Shi Nian De, Shi Nian Zhen, Shi Zhi Ying, Shi Zhi De, Shi Xin Ying, Shi Dao Wei, Shi Zhi Xiu, and nearly thirty others. The sacred Buddha light lasted for about an hour, and everyone was excited and joyful, filled with extraordinary enthusiasm.

The Cremation Ceremony Brings Down Sweet Dew, Lotus Bodhisattvas Appear in the Furnace#

On May 28, the temperature that day was the highest in several days. The old lady had passed away for several days, and her Dharma body was placed in the simple Buddha hall of Baoguang Temple without refrigeration, air conditioning, or even a single electric fan. The living people were all sweaty, yet the old lady's Dharma body emitted a rich and fragrant aroma that everyone present could smell. Two monks from Baoguang Temple came to check and said in amazement, "In such hot weather, it has been so many days without any issues, no water marks on the ground, and it still smells fragrant; indeed, she has practiced well." Many people in the Buddha hall saw the Amitabha Buddha statue emit three strong golden halos, each lasting about ten minutes, while the photo of the old lady and her Dharma body simultaneously shone with dazzling golden light. The Buddha light outside remained brilliant, and the Dharma King's disciples were focused on reciting Buddha's name in the Buddha hall. A monk from Baoguang Temple anxiously said, "Aren't you all coming out to see the Buddha light? There are so many Bodhisattvas in the sky!"

On May 29, the cremation ceremony for Wang Cheng Efen officially took place, presided over by Master Jixin from Baoguang Temple. As soon as the grand mantra ceremony concluded, the flames began to surge, and the wooden coffin had not yet completely caught fire when various sacred Buddhist realms appeared! Colorful Buddha light swirled and shone around the earth, and cheers erupted from those witnessing the sacred realm, with phones, cameras, and video recorders raised high, capturing everything without focusing or framing, all sacred realms were recorded. Suddenly, the roaring flames transformed into dragon gods, breathing fierce fire and roaring mightily, with Amitabha Buddha, Guanyin Bodhisattva, Four-Armed Guanyin, and Manjushri Bodhisattva holding a wisdom sword suddenly appearing. Various miraculous realms emerged continuously with the rising flames, and the prayer device emitted the great Dharma King's chanting voice again. Suddenly, sweet dew rained down from the sky, sweet and rich, falling only at the cremation furnace's location, with no other place around it. The emergence of the sacred realm caused the crowd to erupt in joy; this was a scene of happiness that had never occurred since the cremation furnace was built in Baoguang Temple. Those who personally witnessed the sacred realm at the cremation site included Shi Xin En, Shi Xin Feng, Shi Xin Yu, Shi Zhi Wen, Shi Xin Miao, Shi Dao Zhen, Shi Dao Chun, Shi Dao Zhi, Shi Xin Xiao, Shi Zhi Lian, Shi Xin Yuan, Shi Guang Xiu, Shi Dao Guang, Shi Guang Wen, Qu De Dam, Shi Zhi De, Shi Yi Zeng, Shi Zhi Da, Shi Zhi Xiu, Shi Zhen Xiong, Shi Zhen De, Shi Dao Shan, Shi De Hai, Shi Guang Yun, Shi Zhi Qing, Shi Guang Ling, Shi Zhi Zhang, Shi Zhi Ming, Shi Zhi Hai, Shi Guang Feng, Shi De Ming, Shi De Chao, Shi Zhi Bo, and many others who were not acquainted, all praising loudly and prostrating on the spot.

Remarkable Achievements, High-Quality Relics of the Highest Grade#

Even more astonishingly, from the ashes of Wang Cheng Efen, over sixty colorful relics were collected, including high-quality yellow and white relic flowers! Among them were diamond-shaped relics, which caused a sensation throughout Baoguang Zen Temple and the Chinese Buddhist community. This is an extremely rare sacred relic in history, a true Buddhist treasure, truly achieving the sacred realm of "the subtle realm of the Western Pure Land, where three flowers bloom everywhere." Wu Youjia from Taiwan said, "These relics are truly divine treasures. During the search for relics, there was a handful of ashes that had already been searched several times, and I unexpectedly found two in it. I carefully searched again and confirmed there were no more, and just then, I saw another classmate finding three more in the ashes I had already searched." Another classmate from Taiwan, Li Huizhu, suffered from severe gout, and due to poor tactile sensation, she could only use three fingers to search for relics in the ashes. She said that although she did not find any, the next morning she discovered that the symptoms of gout in her three searching fingers had completely disappeared. People lined up endlessly to pay their respects to the relics, and individuals from all walks of life came to visit. Baoguang Temple even specially took photos of the old lady's relics to share with the public.

Couple Achieves Sacred Fruit Together, Wang Lao Controls Life and Death#

As Lama said in the article "Analysis of Witnessing the Sacred Meaning of the Buddha Bathing Ceremony": Achieving a Wang Cheng Efen may be coincidental, but the miraculous thing is that her husband, Wang Lingze, also practiced under the great Dharma King and never spoke of Buddhism throughout his life. On the afternoon of the 15th day of the second lunar month in 1991, he publicly encouraged people to do good and spoke of the merits of the Pure Land while praising the great Dharma King’s teachings as the true Buddhist teachings of the Shakyamuni system. Someone asked, "I like the Guanyin method, but I don't know what is the best?" Wang Lao replied, "Whether he is a great Dharma master or a great living Buddha, you must be particularly careful and cautious, and never learn false Buddhist teachings. For example, Guanyin Bodhisattva's pure vase has great significance. Let's look back at your master; if he does not have the ability to draw water and transmit teachings, and his conduct is not good, then that is just the common teachings in books. It is better to recite Namo Guanyin Bodhisattva for great merit. True Guanyin teachings require martial means to draw water; two or one person must lift and pour out four or five thousand pounds of water from the Buddha bathing pool, which is true Buddhist practice. Drawing water through literary means means you secretly prepare a bowl, and the master cannot see it. You fill it with water and take it out; when the master practices in front of you, the water will immediately flow out of the bowl to you, just like the holy water from Guanyin Bodhisattva's pure vase, which no worldly container can hold. It will flow out. Only with the holy water flowing out can you receive teachings and wash away your karmic obstacles, which is the true Guanyin method. What I practice is the true Buddhist teachings transmitted by the great Dharma King Yixi Nobu; the water flows out, so I am going to the Western Pure Land now." After Wang Lao finished speaking, he pushed the stool aside and sat cross-legged on the street, passing away at that moment, demonstrating the greatness of the Dharma King’s teachings on freedom from life and death. After the old lady passed away, according to Buddhist regulations, her body could not be moved for seven days, so she sat solemnly in public on the street for seven days and nights, sitting upright like a bell, and was later cremated at Baoguang Temple, resulting in thirteen solid relics. The author purchased a photo of the relics and relic flowers from the cremation of Wang Cheng Efen for twenty yuan at Baoguang Temple and learned that many of the Dharma King's disciples are top monks worldwide, including first-class monks from Taiwan, mainland China, and Hong Kong, as well as great living Buddhas from the United States, all of whom regard the Dharma King as their master. Many disciples are couples who have achieved freedom from life and death, some passing away while sitting in meditation with special hand seals, some radiating light after death, and some remaining intact, becoming physical relics. Most remarkably, the Dharma King usually informs his disciples in advance when someone will pass away, allowing the monks to assist in chanting for their passing. When the monks receive the notification, the person is still alive, but upon arrival, they find the person has already passed. What does this mean? It can only illustrate the true essence of the great Buddhist teachings.

A layperson named Mai, who often worships at Baoguang Temple, excitedly told the reporter, "For these years, I have been anxious, having worshiped many great Dharma masters and living Buddhas but still not learning the true Buddhist teachings, fearing the moment of life and death would come. Of course, I recite Buddha's name every day, but I know best what my situation is; I am not an ordinary person, and I have not learned the true Buddhist teachings. I am not the only one; everyone around me is like this. When the time comes, we will definitely reincarnate, which is terrifying. I have been praying to the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, seeking to learn the true Buddhist teachings. Seeing the miraculous realm of the old lady Cheng Efen's great accomplishments these days, I know it is the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas blessing me, allowing me to find it! A few of us brothers discussed that we must find every possible way to locate the master who taught the great accomplishments of Cheng Efen; I know he is the true great sage. We also heard that Cheng Efen's husband also achieved freedom from life and death and that it was his teachings. If we don't find him, who will we find? Of course, we must find him. He can solve our life and death problems, and we must sincerely seek him!"
