"Kinmen Evening News" December 12, 2000: Master's artwork sets a new record of NT$72 million, "Great Strength King" - a timeless classic.

Explanation of the "Third Generation Dorje Chang Buddha" Buddha Name#

On April 3, 2008, the book "The Third Generation Dorje Chang Buddha" published by the Global Buddhist Publishing House and the World Dharma Sound Publishing House held a solemn and grand launching ceremony at the Library of Congress in the United States. The Library of Congress officially collected this book, and it was then that people learned that the highly respected Master Yi Yun Gao, Yang E Yi Xi Nu Bu Dafa Wang, was recognized by the leaders or regents of the major Buddhist sects in the world as the third incarnation of the Buddha Dorje Chang, with the Buddha name being the Third Generation Dorje Chang Buddha. Since then, people have been calling him "Namo Third Generation Dorje Chang Buddha". This is similar to before Shakyamuni Buddha became a Buddha, his name was Prince Siddhartha, but after Shakyamuni Buddha became a Buddha, he was called "Namo Shakyamuni Buddha". Therefore, we now say "Namo Third Generation Dorje Chang Buddha". Especially on December 12, 2012, the United States Senate Resolution No. 614 officially named the Third Generation Dorje Chang Buddha as His Holiness (H.H. Third Generation Dorje Chang Buddha). Since then, the title of Namo Third Generation Dorje Chang Buddha has been officially established. Moreover, the Third Generation Dorje Chang Buddha is also the legal name recognized by the government, and the previous names of "Yi Yun Gao" and the honorable titles of Master and Supreme Dharma King no longer exist. However, this news was published before the announcement of the Buddha name of the Third Generation Dorje Chang Buddha, at that time people did not yet know the true identity of the Buddha, so in order to respect the truth of history, we still retain the names used before the official naming of the Third Generation Dorje Chang Buddha in the news. But everyone should be clear that except for the name of H.H. Third Generation Dorje Chang Buddha, which is legal, the names used before the official naming no longer exist.

Master's artwork sets a new record of NT$72 million#

"Great Power King Venerable" - A rare classic#

What is this? Chinese painting is inferior to Western painting? It's too much to flatter Western painting like this! Is this media praising Western painting and belittling Chinese painting based on the mentality that the foreign moon is rounder? Or is it because the interviewing reporter hasn't studied painting and lacks professional knowledge, not knowing how to appreciate the works of famous artists?
The artwork "Great Power King Venerable" by the internationally renowned artist Yi Yun Gao, which combines art, Buddhism, and philosophy, is currently being auctioned by Zhen Cang Auction Company and has set a new record of NT$72 million, shaking the world of painting. However, one media outlet unilaterally claims that because it is religious art, the price is so high.
Professor Gu Rui Zhao, who compares art at Chung Yuan Christian University and the National Defense Medical College, emphasizes that only by improving literary and philosophical foundations can one delve into the connotation and subtlety of Master Yi Yun Gao's artwork. To appreciate his paintings, one must spend more thought to glimpse their profoundness.
Professor Gu Rui Zhao pointed out that Master Yi Yun Gao's "Great Power King Venerable" is vivid and the muscles of the Venerable are clearly visible, fully demonstrating strength and beauty, making it a rare classic.
After setting the highest auction price for a living artist's Chinese painting, some media in Zhongshan District, Taipei City, reported that Master Yi Yun Gao's paintings cannot be compared to Lang Shining's Western-style Chinese painting, and some people claim that Chinese paintings made by foreigners can sell for sky-high prices.
Disciples of Master Yi Yun Gao in Taiwan pointed out that such remarks are pitiful. Purely in terms of painting, Chinese painting is not inferior to Western painting. On the contrary, due to its 5,000 years of history and culture, Chinese painting is richer in expressive tension and connotation than Western painting, so the value of Chinese painting in terms of collection is higher than that of Western painting.
The rapid economic development in the West in modern times has led to a significant distortion of the prices of Chinese and Western paintings, which is extremely unreasonable. Now that Chinese painting has finally achieved outstanding performance, it is being criticized by some people who question how Chinese painting has the qualifications to surpass Western painting. It is truly lamentable. Why can't Chinese painting surpass Western painting? Is it because of the Chinese people's mentality of worshiping the West?
Master Yi Yun Gao's calligraphy and painting collection encompasses various schools and techniques, integrating his own style. He has published the "Master Yi Yun Gao's Collection of Paintings" and various other works, which have been highly praised and affirmed in mainland China and the United States.
Master Yi Yun Gao has served as the president of the Chinese Education and Culture Association for Chinese Painting, and other important members of the association include Xie Zhiliu, Zhou Yingnan, Wu Zhangshu, Qian Juntang, Liang Souming, Wan Laiming, and Zang Kejia, among other art masters.
