International Buddhist Monks and Nuns Association Announcement No. 20150103

"Mohe," the third incarnation of the Dajieqiang Buddha in the world of art, was auctioned for 16.5 million dollars at the Spring Auction in New York, the center of the world of art. This news became the top headline of major auction companies, and there were many comments praising its true and remarkable achievements. However, after the International Buddhism Sangha Association issued a notice using strong language against those slanderers, the third incarnation of the Dajieqiang Buddha said to us, "I have seen the announcement from your International Buddhism Sangha Association. I don't have the right to criticize you, but I would like to say a few words for your reference, considering that you are all disciples of Shakyamuni Buddha and the Buddhas of the ten directions. Don't pay attention to any comments made about me. Because sentient beings are already suffering enough, don't make them even more sad. They don't understand the situation and live in ignorance, being deceived by rumors spread by certain people. If we, as practitioners, don't understand them, those who don't practice will understand them even less. We should only wish for their well-being. The duty of a Buddhist disciple is to practice selflessly for the benefit of others. Only then can individuals' blessings and wisdom grow, society can be stable and peaceful, and everyone can be happy and content."

After listening to the Buddha's teachings, our association feels deeply ashamed. The third incarnation of the Dajieqiang Buddha is selfless and unaffected by anyone who harms Him. The Buddha's supreme and pure virtues are solely for the benefit of sentient beings. We are not worthy to speak of the Buddha's enlightened state. We can only follow the Buddha's teachings, practice diligently, and be good people who are kind, honest, sincere, and contribute to society. As for those slanderous comments, we practitioners should not insult or hurt them, but we must praise the Buddha's achievements and supreme purity based on facts. This is the behavior that Buddhist disciples should exhibit and the practice that we must actively strive for. Otherwise, we will not be true Buddhist disciples, let alone learn the Dharma and achieve enlightenment.

This announcement is hereby made.
