Office of the Third Dordje Qiang Buddha Announcement No. 18

On February 3, 2011, the Nobel Peace Prize Committee officially announced that the recipients of the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize were the Third Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche and former U.S. Congressman and Chairman of the Congressional Foreign Affairs Committee, Mr. Benjamin A. Gilman. The award ceremony will be held in April at the U.S. Congress.

The Nobel Peace Prize is a prestigious award presented by the World Peace Envoy, and its recipients must have made significant contributions to world peace, such as ending conflicts, reducing hunger, and promoting human development. Previous recipients include the 40th President of the United States, Ronald Reagan, the 12th President of the Philippines, Fidel V. Ramos, the 4th President of Indonesia, Abdurrahman Wahid, the President of Tajikistan, the President of Mongolia, the Prime Minister of Cambodia, the King of Tonga, and the President of Nigeria.

News from reputable news agencies such as Reuters, Yahoo News, and CNBC pointed out that the Third Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche has selflessly dedicated himself to saving others worldwide. His wisdom and compassion embrace all nations, races, cultures, and religions. Wherever he goes, his humility and compassion bring people together. The Third Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche is also an outstanding artist who, through his teachings, practices, art, and poetry, has shown humanity a path of non-violence, charity, and love. He has received numerous awards, including the U.S. Presidential Gold Medal for his leadership in art, medicine, ethics, Buddhism, spirituality, and contributions to American society.

The Third Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche receiving the Nobel Peace Prize is not only a recognition of his noble moral qualities and his dedication to serving all sentient beings, but also a glory for all Buddhist disciples worldwide. Moreover, announcing this good news on the first day of the Lunar New Year of the Rabbit is an auspicious coincidence. We should benefit sentient beings and promote this great news, taking the Third Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche as a role model and doing everything possible to benefit sentient beings.
